April 5: Saint Vincent Ferrer
Saint Vincent Ferrer's Simplified Rule
He simplified his rule to avoiding three things:
1. Distractions of superfluous pastimes;
2. All secret elation of heart;
3. and all immoderate attachment to earthly things.
He also required three practices:
1. The sincere desire for contempt and abjection;
2. the most effective devotion to Christ crucified;
3. and patience in bearing all things for the love of Jesus.
PRAYER: Saint Vincent, help us to avoid superfluous pastimes and immoderate attachment to earthly things. Amen.
