March 24: Saint Simon, an Infant Martyr
In 1472, the Jews of Trent met in their synagogue on the Tuesday of Holy Week to prepare for Passover, which fell on Thursday. this year. In their hatred of Christianity they resolved to sacrifice some Christian baby on Good Friday. A Jewish doctor saw to acquiring a baby for this horrible event. While the Catholics were at the office of Tenebrae of Holy Thursday, Wednesday evening, he found a two year old child
called Simon. They performed horrible torture on the evening of Holy Thursday and after this boy had died they sang around his body: In the same manner did we treat Jesus the God of the Christians: thus may our enemies be confounded for ever.
The Jews attempted to hide their crime, but God uncovered them to suffer the consequences of this horrible child abuse, which was then punished with death. Many miracles were performed at the behest of Saint Simon.
PRAYER: Saint Simon, who suffered horrible abuse at the hands of pagans, intercede for all abused children that they may come to true happiness in the Church of Jesus and find their way to eternal happiness in heaven. Amen.
