February 18: Saint Simeon
Saint Simeon was bishop of Jerusalem. Let us read about him in Butler's: In the year 66, in which Saints Peter and Paul suffered martyrdom in Rome, the civil war began in Judea, by the seditions of the Jews against the Romans. The Christians in Jerusalem were warned by God of the impending destruction of that city, and by a divine revelation commanded to leave it, as Lot was rescued out of Sodom. They therefore departed our of it the same year, before Vespasian... Like the Catholics at Jerusalem before its destruction in 70 AD, we look for a warning of the impending three days of darkness . Let us prepare ourselves to receive this warning by becoming saints, for only saints will receive the warning.
PRAYER: Saint Simeon, Bishop of Jerusalem, who was warned by God to remove your flock from there, warn us to depart from our sinful ways and warn us when we must prepare for the three days of darkness . We promise today to return to living a Catholic life and to prepare for our true home, Heaven. Amen.
