March 3: Saint Simplicius

Pope Saint Simplicius had to deal with a certain Zeno.  Zeno published a decree in 482 of union called the Henoticon, which explained the faith ambiguously, neither admitting or condemning the Council of Chalcedon.  Saint Simplicius fought this attempt at  religious syncretism  and defended Catholic doctrine vigorously.
Basically  religious syncretism  teaches that all religions are good and lead one to heaven and that they all basically teach the same thing in different words.  For the syncretist a person should worship in some religion, whichever one he finds is most  meaningful  to him.  This is crazy, because there can only be one true religion and any religion that does not teach that it is the only true religion is certainly a false one.  There is only one road to heaven, the Catholic Church.  Let us pray to Saint Simplicius to help us fight the modern  Henticon , which is found in the documents of Vatican II, the United Nations charter, the United States Constitution and numerous other places.

PRAYER: Saint Simplicius, lead us to accept the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, especially in matters of Faith.  Amen.
