August 2 Saint Rutillus
In Africa, of Saint Rutillus the Martyr, who frequently fled from persecution from place to place, and sometimes redeemed his danger with money; he was unexpectedly arrested, and brought before the governor, and tortured with many pains: at last he was delivered to the flames, and crowned with an excellent martyrdom. Did Saint Rutillus apostatize? We think not, but his story shows that you cannot avoid God's will.
