August 30: Saint Rose of Lima
Here is a saint from South America. She devoted herself to her duties around the house, as well as fasting. God allowed her to be subject to continual illness, as well as suffering persecution from the devil for fifteen years.
She fasted to a superhuman degree. Whole Lents would pass during which she ate no bread but subsisted solely on five seeds from the lime fruit., and thus is another of our saintly addicts.
PRAYER: Saint Rose, help us to do our duties and comfort those who are ill and lead them to true health in sanctity. Amen.
