April 26: Saint Paschasius

As a new born baby Saint Paschasius was abandoned on the steps of Notre Dame of Soissons.  Some nuns found him and gave him to the monks of Saint Peter to be raised.  He became a cleric, but did not live up to this high calling until he was 22, when he entered the Abbey of Corbie.  Eventually he was elected Abbot, but resigned to settle a dispute.  He returned to his former work, as he said:  throwing myself into the arms of philosophy and wisdom, so as to be fed in the autumn of my life with the same milk of the Scriptures which I have drunk from in its springtime.

PRAYER: Saint Paschasius intercede before God for all the children who are abandoned by their parents, especially those whose parents are present but abandon them by neglect.  Amen.
