February 27: Saint Leander

Saint Leander suffered under Leovogild.  In fact it was so bad that he wrote:  We have reached the point where there is not a single free man in Spain. He was sent by Leovogild's son, Saint Hermengild to obtain help from the Byzantine Emperor.  Hermenegild always remained faithful as we will read later this year.  After Leovogild's death, Recared, Hermengild's brother assumed the throne, allowed Leander back to his work as Bishop and was eventually converted by him.

PRAYER: Saint Leander, who worked hard to bring people to the will of God, bring me there as well.  Amen.
