April 14: Saint Justin, Martyr

Let us read a little of what Saint Justin Taught:  "By their works you shall know them.  And every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."  (Matthew 7:21) And as to those who are not living in accordance with His  (Jesus')  Teachings, and are  Christians in name only , we  demand that all such be punished by you.
To yield and give way to our passions is the lowest slavery, even as to rule over these is the only freedom.
The greatest of all good is to be free from sin, the next is to be justified; but he must be counted among the most unfortunate of people, who, while living unrighteously, remains for a long time unpunished.

PRAYER: Saint Justin, who taught by your life and martyrdom that the only good thing in this world is to be free from sin, help me to free myself from this horrible evil.  Amen.
