May 10: Saint Job

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away: as it has pleased the Lord so is it done: blessed be the Name of the Lord : Job 1:21.  Job lost everything, his farm and land, his wife and children, his house, all of his possessions.  He sank down to living on top of a pile of manure, and then he says:  The Lord has taken away: as it has pleased the Lord...  When we lose something little and worthless, what do we do?  We curse and condemn, when we should thank God for the tribulation He has allowed to come upon us.  By accepting all that comes into our life from the Hand of God as a blessing as Job did, we shall find true happiness no matter how  bad  things seem to get.

PRAYER: Job, you blessed the Name of the Lord from the depths of your misery, lead us to bless His Holy Name at all times, especially when we suffer some trial.  Amen.
