April 13: Saint Hermenegild, martyr for the Eucharist
The story of Saint Hermenegild is most informative. Today many will receive Our Lord from any priest, even a heretic. Saint Hermenegild was offered the choice between receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion from a heretic or losing his life. He chose to honor Our Lord and refuse to receive Communion from a heretic and thus become one of His saintly martyrs.
PRAYER: We worship Our Lord Jesus in the Holy Eucharist by refusing to receive Him from the hands of heretics. Saint Hermenegild, please guide all those in heresy away from their vomit and back to the only saving Faith. Amen.
