February 27th: Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows
Saint Gabriel's brother was a member of the masons, an anti-Catholic conspiratorial sect. He sought to bring his worldly family to the practice of virtue. The Breviary adds: Among other virtues, the Saint especially loved Christian humility and obedience; for he considered himself the least of all.
He therefore strove eagerly to do all the most menial work of the house, and he most diligently performed, not only the direct commands, but the unexpressed wishes of his superiors. Let us imitate his obedience and fondness of work.
PRAYER: Saint Gabriel, help me to get my work done, especially the most difficult jobs; help me to be obedient to my superiors and fulfill their every order and wish. Amen.
